Julie Donald was born in Cairns, North Queensland, Australia.
From an early age she received much encouragement from her high school
art teachers, who gave her paints and their own canvasses to encourage
her talent. Winning her first Art competition at the age of 17 was
another incentive to pursue a career as an artist.
Julie studied at the Australian National University, Institute of the
Arts and gained a four year BA Fine Arts in 1992. She then travelled to
the Middle East where she exhibited with National Museums, taught Art,
completed commissions, and worked as a news reader on a National
Television and Radio station.
Returning to Melbourne, Australia, in 1996, Julie has continued
exhibiting her artwork through various outlets, and has now established
a broad network throughout Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia.
Julie currently paints full time from her studio gallery in Coburg, Melbourne.
Recently she has extended this network to Ireland and the USA,
participating in ‘World Art 1998’ in Los Angeles. Her work creates
interest wherever it is exhibited, with people always attracted to the
unique and vibrant use of colour in her work.
